Girls find healing through a peaceful lakeside environment, trauma-informed approaches, with the full Heartland program woven through every day.

The Alabama campus sits on 177 acres of rolling hills around a 35-acre lake in Seale, just across the state line from Columbus, Georgia. Four student dorms, a recreation building, an educational building, and a main lodge that overlooks the water. The main lodge consists of a commercial kitchen, dining room, and offices. Outside are a swimming pool, a softball field, a sand volleyball court, two basketball courts, fitness room, and the lake itself.

Girls live on campus with round-the-clock staff, attend our accredited academy, and follow the structured daily schedule found at every Heartland location. Recreation/exercise is part of every day, from the fitness room to running and resistance training on the lakeside property. Students look forward to an equine program with a dedicated specialist who provides time with horses.

Family involvement happens through Family Weekends on campus, which bring program updates, parent seminars and support, church together, and scheduled meetings with the counselor and teacher.

Unique to Alabama

Every campus shares the program. This is what Alabama adds.

Academics, mentoring, counseling, team challenges, community meals: the core is the same at every location. These are the experiences that give Alabama its own character.

Life on the lake

A 35-acre lake is the center of campus life. Girls take out canoes, paddle boats, and paddle boards, fish from the shore, and run the lakeside trails. The water is where a hard day gets better.

Anthony Alvarez

Director, Alabama campus since 2025

Meet the director

He walked through these doors as a student first.

My desire is that every young person who walks through the doors encounters the love of God and finds freedom through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Anthony Alvarez first heard the call to ministry as a student in a residential program, walking a path much like the one our girls walk today. That journey gave him a firsthand understanding of what it means to search for hope, healing, and purpose and it’s shaped everything about how he leads.

Born and raised in the Chicago area, Anthony is an ordained minister with nearly ten years of Christian leadership experience across centers in New York and Florida. He deepened his calling through training at Elim Bible Institute and Christ for the Nations.

Before stepping into the Director role in October 2025, Anthony served two and a half years as Admissions Coordinator at the Alabama campus, walking alongside families from the very beginning of their journey. He carries a deep passion for helping students and families discover hope, healing, and their God-given purpose. Outside of work, he cherishes time with his wife and two children.
